Experience with Instant Messaging
I think of instant messaging as
taking the place of hand written letters via “snail mail”, which I believe most
people have no interest in writing letters like this anymore. Instant messaging
is just that; instant and in “real time”. If I see that a friend is online on
Facebook (by the green dot), and I want to chat with them, I can in real time. Instant
messaging is how I keep up with friends and I get information this way that I
normally would not have at all, such as keeping up with things where I grew up.
I prefer Facebook instant messaging the most, because as mentioned above, I can
see when friends are online. Facebook seems to be where everybody is, so it is
my preferred IM platform.
This blog is part of an
assignment from American Military University for my "Web 2.0
Fundamentals" class where I am to review instant messaging preferences.
