2020 in a nutshell

Lets face it. For the most part, 2020 sucked.
The below sums up our year.

We had our annual family Christmas gathering in January. The only gathering with my entire family in 2020.

Liz and I had a trip to Puerto Vallarta Mexico, in February. An Olivia trip, which are always fun.

Mid March, COVID shook the world.....

Three other trips in 2020 were cancelled. Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; South Padre Island, Texas and Turks and Caicos Islands. Punta Cana and Turks and Caicos were rescheduled to 2021. We'll see if they still happen.

Two of our kitties passed away, one in April, the other in December. Meishka had lymphoma. Winston had cancer in a lung. Now we are down to our one kitty, Prince, who is in good health as far as we know.

We had three trips to the ER between the two of us during the year. This all worked out OK.

My former command, USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD-6) was destroyed by fire in July, which made national news. It will now be scrapped. I served onboard her in 2003-04.

Courtney & John visited in September. Courtney was down for a ham radio event. I took them to the beach too!

I had two teeth pulled in November. A tooth cracked in October, right next to another tooth that was already causing problems. Teeth numbered 4 & 5 were extracted in preparations for implants.

Liz's aunt passed away in December. Aunt Janice. Such a sweet and kind soul. We miss her!

We have endured the construction next door for awhile, but now they are nearly finished. This has been ongoing for the last 2 years. As I write, they are finally installing our long awaited new fence to separate the properties.

We made an attempt to sell our property during the summer, but scrapped it when there was little interest and one low ball offer. We have decided to stay put for now.

Figuring out how to manage with the COVID crises resulted in more hikes, bike rides and lots of tennis. Also lots of beach visits, which resulted in two sting ray stings, and a shark sighting, which were all on the same beach, but not on the same day.

Not a great year, but there were some bright spots. We have our health!
With a new administration coming in and a COVID vaccine finally circulating, I expect 2021 to be much better!

Liz, Aunt Janice and I at her birthday celebration in 2017. We miss you Janice!

RIP my sweet babies, Meishka 13 and Winston 14. We miss you both!

Prince, 13 in December 2020. Our "cockroach" kitty, who has now outlived the other three kitties we have had.
